SurgiNet/Cerner, Analyst-Applications Specialist
Job Summary:
Reporting to the Chief Nursing Officer, has primary responsibility and accountability for leadership and performs all duties related to implementation and support of clinical applications within Oaklawn Hospital’s Surgery Department, Birth Center and Endoscopy Department. Optimizes efficient and effective use in these areas related to the use of EMR/Billing and Inventory Control. Essential Functions: Consistently uses an outward mindset and puts forth exemplary effort in accomplishing his/her goals and objectives in a manner that helps others to achieve their goals and objectives. Leads Cerner application implementation and system customization including the development and enforcement of adherence to standard work. Specifically, for SurgiNet, Endoscopy, and Birth Center and Outpatient Departments associated with these areas in regards to the EHR. Provides technical support, diagnosis of application errors and troubleshooting with system issues within area of responsibility. Interpret, modify, analyze, and design clinical systems, data, and information. SurgiNet maintenance, build, and optimization, including but not limited to peri-op-segment design, order catalog, surgery scheduling design tools and location build. Inventory management and maintenance with regards to surgical supplies for Cerner Item master. Works with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and other health care professionals to evaluate current EMR functionality and develop future applications by building consensus and using efficient decision-making processes. Recommends innovative ideas, processes, and/or procedures for enhancements, additions, and modifications to improve existing systems. Provides training and education for staff on all aspects of SurgiNet, Peri-op documentation, and Power Chart. Serves as a resource person for daily operational issues within the electronic health record. Represents surgical areas for change management when Director is unable to attend and when code upgrades are involved. Assists in support of Image Stream and other surgical technology. Builds, maintains and optimizes anesthesia documentation management. Works with other members of the team to implement solutions to system related problems to minimize operational impact. Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in healthcare and/or Information Sciences. Minimum of 2 years of experience preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Masters Degree preferred. Familiarity with basic project management concepts and methodology. Strong dedication to quality customer service. Critical Thinking skills, good working knowledge of clinical operations of assigned departments/areas, and a high level of problem resolution/analytical competence, including knowledge of Cerner SurgiNet, SurgiNet Anesthesia and Cerner clinical solutions is required. Ability to work with minimal supervision, good organizational skills, excellent interpersonal communication skills are expected. Working Conditions:
Employee is continuously exposed to electrical hazards and CRT terminal work. Primarily works in a clean, well lit, air-controlled areas. Physical Requirements:
