Summary:
The Macomb Group, Inc., a recognized leading distributor in the Midwest for pipe, valves and fittings, is looking for a Senior Accountant to join the accounting and finance team at the corporate headquarters in Sterling Heights, MI.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
Assist with completion and oversight of daily accounting activities including ledger maintenance, preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and other month-end close processes. Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and relevant regulations. Assist management with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning, as well as variance analysis and cost optimization analyses as needed. Help prepare for and assist the controller in managing external audits, including the yearend financial statement audit and state sales and use tax audits. Assist in the development and documentation of business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls. Ensure compliance with GAAP principles and other relevant regulations. Liaise with accounting managers and the controller to improve financial procedures.
Qualifications and skills:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field (Master's preferred). CPA or CMA certification preferred. 3-5 years of experience in an accounting role, with increasing responsibility. Thorough knowledge of GAAP and accounting best practices. Proficiency in accounting software packages (Epicor Prophet 21 preferred, but not mandatory). Intermediate to advanced excel skills. Strong analytical and quantitative skills with attention to detail. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to clearly explain financial information.

Monday - Friday, day shift
