Graduate Transportation Engineer
in our City/County Design Team ,
you will work closely with licensed Professional Engineers on a wide range of transportation design projects for municipal and county clients. You will be involved in all aspects of project development including preliminary and final design of roadway, drainage, utility, and construction staging - from pavement rehabilitation to full street reconstructions. You'll develop critical technical skills while contributing to the delivery of solutions that enhance everyday life in our communities. Responsibilities: Geometric Design - Develop typical sections, alignments, and profiles for roadways, bikeways, and pedestrian facilities, ensuring compliance with applicable standards and client requirements. Preliminary and Final Road Design - Assist in creating detailed designs for roadway reconstruction, watermain and storm sewer improvements, and multimodal infrastructure, collaborating closely with project teams. Hydraulic Design Support - Assist in sizing and laying out minor stormwater improvements such as storm sewer systems, culverts, and surface drainage enhancements. Plan Production - Produce high-quality, biddable, and buildable plan sets, including layouts, removals, construction staging, and utility coordination drawings. Cost Estimating - Support the preparation of engineer's estimates by developing quantity take-offs and researching historical cost data. CADD Drafting and Modeling - Use MicroStation/Geopak, OpenRoads Designer, and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D to prepare design models, exhibits, and construction plans. Collaboration - Work closely with project managers, lead designers, and other team members to ensure cohesive project development and delivery.
