Overview
Vaco is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join a dynamic team. The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll for our employees. This role requires a thorough understanding of payroll processes, tax regulations, and exceptional organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Processing:
Accurately process bi-weekly, semi-monthly, and monthly payrolls.
Handle off-cycle payrolls as needed.
Process payroll for new hires, terminations, and payroll adjustments.
Calculate and distribute bonuses, commissions, and other special payments.
Data Management:
Maintain and update employee payroll records.
Ensure accurate entry of working hours and wage calculations.
Review and resolve timecard exceptions and discrepancies.
Compliance and Reporting:
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
Track and deduct garnishments, tax levies, and other special payroll deductions.
Prepare payroll reports and summaries for management.
Assist in responding to government agency requests with relevant data.
Employee Support:
Address and resolve payroll-related queries and concerns from employees.
Provide guidance on PTO requests and other payroll policies.
Audits and Improvements:
Conduct regular audits to ensure payroll accuracy and integrity.
Assist in developing and implementing payroll processes and procedures.
Requirements
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of payroll processing experience.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency with payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Knowledge:
Understanding of payroll practices, tax regulations, and wage and hour laws.
Skills:
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Superior communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.

the individual's skill sets, experience and training;
licensure and certification requirements;
office location and other geographic considerations;

With that said, as required by local law, Vaco by Highspring believes that the following salary range referenced above reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
