Overview: Seeking an individual to learn and support the CMDB data updates while grasping how the CMDB is used on a day-by-day basis. The CMDB is highly complex with different uses depending on the organization and or the devices. Work as liaison to the CMDB customers and Data Stewards ensuring data updates provided are accurate, complete and follow best practices used in the Configuration Management’s Center of Excellence.

Responsibilities:

1. Assist with configuration of ServiceNow Discovery schedules.
2. Gain an understanding of external CMDB data sources. The desired resource won’t necessarily support the integration, but needs an understanding of the external data sources.
3. Provide “plain language” explanations to business customers when data is sourced from one of these other systems.
4. Requires good communication skills and ability to communicate back-n-forth with the customer until the data is proper.
5. Realize new/update data requests routinely have bad data; the CMDB Admin must work directly with the customer to assure they understand exactly what we need to know and why it matters.
6. Single point of contact for all CMDB users – globally.
7. Answer questions regarding data or the ITSM/CMDB system.
8. Contact tier 2/3 support when unable to answer questions.
9. Collaborate with customers to support and assist IT initiatives involving CMDB data.
10. Collaborate with Application Portfolio team to ensure Application Health and IT lifecycle is managed. Be able to identify gaps and remediation steps.

CMDB Data Updates:

1. Can be 1 up to 500+ devices per request.
2. Entry is via Incident or Service Requests.
3. Review audit reports and CMDB Health Dashboards. Based on findings, reach out to device owners or respective CoE Data Stewards for data remediation.
4. Perform updating and removing Application to Infrastructure relationships.
5. Review, collaborate on data corrections and execute mass updates to the CMDB.
6. Will be the only authorized user allowed to mass import data to the CMDB.
7. Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the different Configuration (CI) Classes and Attributes per class.
8. Learn to know the attribute default values to ensure imports and updates maintain CI data accuracy.
9. Provide urgent updates to the CMDB data to ensure IT tools are working as expected.
