Position Summary
The
Cost Accountant
will play a critical role in developing and managing the company’s standard costing processes across multiple manufacturing and service sites. This individual will ensure accurate cost reporting, provide insight into product and plant-level profitability, and partner with operations to drive efficiency and margin improvement. This role offers a significant career growth opportunity, with opportunity to grow into a Plant Controller position as the company continues to scale. RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop, implement, and maintain standard costing models across multiple sites.
Analyze manufacturing costs and prepare regular cost reports comparing standard to actual results.
Partner with Operations and Finance leadership to identify cost drivers, variances, and opportunities for margin improvement.
Support month-end and year-end close processes related to cost accounting and inventory.
Ensure accurate valuation of inventory and compliance with GAAP.
Participate in annual budget and periodic forecasting processes by providing cost and margin insights.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs).
Provide ad hoc financial and operational analysis to support strategic decision-making.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. CPA or CMA preferred.
3–5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with strong cost accounting exposure in a multi-site or manufacturing environment.
Solid understanding of standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory accounting.
Strong Excel and ERP system skills; experience with large ERP systems preferred.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, PE-backed growth environment.
Leadership ambition and aptitude, with interest in advancing into a Plant Controller role.
