Description Performs cashier duties in collecting payments for various city taxes, fees, permits and licenses.
Examples of Duties
Provides excellent customer service to both external and internal customers. Receives/processes payments, over the counter or by mail, for all city taxes, fees, permits and other city-related accounts. Receives/processes DMV Select payments. Assists in processing batch payments for business licenses and excise taxes, including lodging, meals, and utility. Assists in processing Official Payments and tax payments made at SunTrust. Attends semi-annual Rabies Clinic to process/handle animal license payments and assists in billing for animal licenses as needed. Organizes and maintains various files including miscellaneous cash receipts, ride savers, cemetery plot payments, and other accounts receivable payments. Distributes payroll checks. Receipts incoming mail and distributes mail without payments in absence of Deputy I. Assists co-workers in researching accounts to provide information to department employees or taxpayers as needed. Performs other duties as assigned. Typical Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED and at least 6 months bookkeeping/accounting clerical experience. Licenses and/or Certifications:
None
Knowledge:
General knowledge of accounting terminology, methods and procedures General knowledge of automated cash receipting methods and procedures Good working knowledge of Microsoft applications (Excel, Word) Skills:
Basic math and analytical skills Attention to detail, customer service skills and computer skills Abilities:
Ability to perform tasks with minimal supervision Ability to enter and compute data with speed and accuracy

Work is primarily performed in an indoor, climate-controlled, pleasant environment, but is exposed to temperamental changes, extreme noise and/or irate customers. Essential Physical Activities:
Crouching, stooping, walking, lifting, grasping, hearing, seeing up close, kneeling, reaching, talking, standing, finger movement Typical weight handled up to 25 lbs
