IT Microsoft 365 Architect

The IT Microsoft 365 Architect is responsible for driving the strategic development, implementation, and governance of Microsoft 365-based solutions. This individual will collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance digital transformation efforts, streamline workflows, and elevate user experience across the organization. The role aligns closely with the organization's mission-driven initiatives and long-term IT roadmap. Essential Functions

Architecture & Solution Design Designs and implements scalable Microsoft 365 solutions aligned with organizational strategy. Develops and maintains technical architectures, blueprints, and best practice frameworks. Provides leadership in the architecture and implementation of Microsoft 365, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive, and the Power Platform. Automation & Workflow Optimization Builds and deploys custom apps and automation using Power Apps, Power Automate, and Power Virtual Agents. Identifies opportunities to streamline manual business processes using Microsoft 365 tools. Leads the development of digital forms, task automation, and notifications that reduce operational inefficiencies. Security, Compliance & Governance Partners with the Security Engineer to apply and maintain security configurations in accordance with Zero Trust principles. Implements data loss prevention (DLP), multi-factor authentication (MFA), conditional access, and Microsoft Defender. Establishes and enforces governance policies, ensuring compliance with HIPAA, FERPA, and other regulatory standards. Integration & Infrastructure Oversees hybrid deployments, directory synchronization (Azure AD Connect), and mail routing. Supports the integration of M365 services with legacy systems, ERP solutions, and data platforms. SharePoint & Collaboration Services Oversees the design, deployment, and administration of SharePoint Online, focusing on document management, site provisioning, metadata, and user permissions. Implements Microsoft Teams governance and lifecycle management. Promotes usage of OneDrive for secure cloud file storage and sharing. User Experience & Change Management Acts as a liaison with business units to understand user needs and pain points. Translates business requirements into M365 solutions that improve employee productivity. Champions change management initiatives, including user training, adoption strategies, and feedback loops. Support, Monitoring & Optimization Uses IT Service Management tools (such as Mojo) to respond to user requests and issues. Establishes performance baselines and KPIs for Microsoft 365 services. Continually evaluates new Microsoft 365 features and roadmap releases for potential adoption. Documentation & Knowledge Transfer Develops and maintains thorough technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, SOPs, and user guides. Leads training sessions and workshops to upskill IT staff and end users. Supports internal knowledge base development and self-service enablement. Other duties as assigned by management. Minimum Qualifications

Required Skills Education Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field. Experience 5+ years of experience with Microsoft 365 solution architecture, implementation, and administration. Strong experience with Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps, Power BI). Proficiency in Microsoft security and compliance center tools. Expertise in Active Directory, Azure AD, Exchange Online, and SharePoint Online. Demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement and requirement gathering. Knowledge / Skills Strong experience with Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps, Power BI). Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical users. A commitment to delivering outstanding customer service to internal users and stakeholders. A passion for staying updated with the latest technology trends and advancements in Microsoft 365 advancements, best practices, and certifications. Preferred Education / Experience / Knowledge & Skills / Certifications & License Microsoft Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert or Microsoft 365 Certified: Security Administrator Associate. Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell). Experience in nonprofit or mission-driven organizations.
