Key responsibilities for the OMS include: Providing make-up services to cover missed minutes since August Implementing individualized O&M goals with close attention to safety and skill mastery Teaching safe intersection and street crossing skills aiming for 90% accuracy over multiple trials Coaching appropriate cane techniques, especially on stairs, targeting consistent accuracy Guiding the student in utilizing internet tools and apps to plan and navigate routes in new locations with monitored safety and strong success rates Qualifications and desired experience: Certification or licensure as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist Experience working with students who have visual impairments, including complex ocular diagnoses Strong ability to assess functional vision and tailor mobility instruction accordingly Familiarity with assistive technology and route planning applications Commitment to fostering independence while ensuring safety in community mobility This contract role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the student's independence and participation in daily living and educational activities.
