A contracted, part-time Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) is needed for a K-12 school located in Pawtucket, RI. This role involves supporting students with visual impairments to develop safe and effective travel skills in various environments.

Key Responsibilities: Conduct assessments to determine students mobility needs and abilities Develop and implement individualized orientation and mobility plans Provide direct instruction in travel techniques using canes, guide dogs, or other methods Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other support staff to promote student independence Assist with training on the use of adaptive equipment and technology Qualifications and Desired Experience: Certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS or equivalent) Experience working with school-aged children, preferably K-12 Knowledge of current best practices in orientation and mobility instruction Strong communication and teamwork skills Ability to adapt instruction to meet individual student needs Location: Pawtucket, Rhode Island Employment Type: Contract, part-time; client is currently finalizing specific details. This position offers the opportunity to support student independence and mobility within a dynamic school setting.
