Overview
CDM Smith is seeking a Lead Data and AI Architect to join our Digital Engineering Solutions team. This individual will be part of the Data Technology group within the Digital Engineering Solutions team, helping to drive strategic Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) initiatives using data technologies and analytics to deliver actionable business insights and robust solutions for AEC professionals and client outcomes. The Data Technology group will lead the firm in AEC-focused Business Intelligence and data services by providing architectural guidance, technological vision, and solution development, utilizing advanced analytics, data science, and AI/ML to give our business and our products a competitive advantage. This position requires excellence in data architecture capabilities, experience with data technology and processes, and the ability to frame problems, shape solutions, and lead implementations. As part of the Digital Engineering Solutions team, the Data Technology group will engage in research and development and provide guidance to the AEC practices at CDM Smith, supporting new product research, testing, and incubation of data-technology ideas.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record designing and implementing successful data and AI/ML solutions, be a strategic thinker with a strong technical background, and possess exceptional communication and problem-solving skills with a mindset of continuous learning and curiosity.
Responsibilities
Develop and design the architecture for various data and AI solutions, ensuring each solution is scalable, secure, and reliable. Engage with business units to understand requirements and translate them into technical designs. Create data and AI architectural solutions to complex architecture, engineering, and environmental science problems. Design and implement strategies to scale data and AI solutions across different business units. Create detailed architecture and technical design documents for data and AI solutions. Collaborate with data scientists, data engineers, data analysts, and stakeholders as part of a multidisciplinary team. Eagerness to learn and work across a global practice. Stay abreast of latest developments, including new technologies, best practices, and tools that could impact CDM Smith. Assist with development of documentation, standards, best practices, and workflows for data technology across the business. Present to external audiences as needed. Assist with marketing, communications, and business development descriptions and activities as needed. Assist with internal and external website descriptions as needed. Perform other duties as required. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree. 8 years of related experience. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree. Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on duties and workload. Skills and Abilities
Advanced understanding of data management lifecycle functions including governance, architecture, integration, metadata, data development, quality, administration, security, operations, stewardship and master data management. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure cloud services and Databricks. Understanding of the Azure well-architected framework and its application to Data and AI solutions. Expert ability to develop highly complex data and AI architectures; inquisitive with a drive to understand business and data challenges. Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Innovative with critical thinking to generate value-adding solutions. Pay Range Minimum: $121,368 Pay Range Maximum: $212,368 Additional Compensation: All bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position. Work Location Options: Fully Remote or Hybrid Work Options may be considered for the successful candidate.
