Base pay range
$52,000.00/yr - $65,000.00/yr Yard Manager / Dispatcher - Building Materials Operations Position Summary Our client is seeking a highly organized, hands-on Yard Manager/Dispatcher to lead daily operations at a busy building materials facility. This role combines leadership, logistics coordination, and customer service, requiring someone who can manage personnel, oversee yard operations, and ensure the timely, accurate dispatch of deliveries. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in building materials, strong leadership skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, outdoor work environment. Key Responsibilities
Supervise, train, and schedule yard personnel to maintain safe, efficient, and productive operations. Oversee the organization, cleanliness, and safety of the yard to ensure a customer-ready environment. Operate forklifts to load/unload freight, build customer orders, and organize yard inventory. Coordinate with sales and warehouse teams to ensure orders are accurately picked, staged, and verified before delivery. Schedule and dispatch delivery trucks, optimizing routes and meeting delivery deadlines. Communicate with drivers to resolve route changes, delays, or delivery issues. Assist receiving with inbound material management and verify shipment accuracy. Maintain accurate inventory through proper paperwork handling, cycle counts, and stock rotation. Provide professional, prompt service to will-call and walk-in customers. Collaborate with inside sales, dispatch, and management to meet customer needs and resolve issues. Ensure safety protocols and OSHA guidelines are followed at all times. Qualifications
Prior experience in building materials, logistics, or warehouse operations (preferred). Forklift experience required; certification a plus. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Experience with dispatching and working with drivers/logistics teams. Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work outdoors in all weather conditions. High school diploma or equivalent; trade or vocational training a plus.
