A middle school is seeking a Special Education Teacher to cover a maternity leave through December 1, 2025. This contract opportunity is designed for an educator dedicated to supporting students in grades 6-8 with diverse learning needs. Key Responsibilities: Deliver specialized instruction in reading, writing, and phonics, utilizing Wilsons methodology Manage a caseload of 25-30 middle school students requiring individualized support Provide push-in support within general education classrooms and pull-out small group sessions Collaborate with general education teachers and specialists to adapt curriculum and drive student success Maintain progress documentation and communicate regularly with families and staff Desired Qualifications and Experience: Valid certification as a Special Education Teacher or Reading Specialist Experience working with middle school students, preferably grades 6-8 Familiarity with Wilsons reading and phonics programs or similar evidence-based instructional frameworks Ability to differentiate instruction in both inclusive and small group settings Strong communication skills and a collaborative team approach Schedule and Location: Position based in New Bedford, Massachusetts Monday through Thursday, 4 to 8 hours per day (flexible scheduling) This contract role offers a meaningful opportunity to make an impact during a critical transitional period for students requiring specialized support.
