Responsibilities
- Aids with Parking, Transportation, & Postal Services operational hardware & software; makes entry level adjustments to and helps install & configure equipment such as computing devices (PCs, microcomputers, laptops), printers, scanners, and related peripherals; handles communication technology (telephones and equipment) and multimedia equipment (video, audio, conferencing).
- Performs routine system operations and administration for parking management systems, license plate recognition (LPR), LCD displays, shuttle AVL/GPS equipment, key access equipment, radios, garage counter systems, gate systems, shuttle camera systems, pay stations, and pay-by-phone applications.
- Operates computers and cloud-based systems; maintains problem logs and uses help desk systems.
- Assists IT Hardware & Software Specialist with data storage operations, transfers data between media/formats, and performs routine backup and recovery tasks.
- Makes minor adjustments and implements routine technical updates to hardware, software, networks, operating systems, and applications as directed.
- Maintains records, including inventory records and records of assignments and use of technical equipment.
- Provides initial troubleshooting and problem-solving for Parking, Transportation, & Postal Services.
- Communicates with technology and non-technical staff to understand IT work orders and issue details.
- Assists with testing software, hardware, and peripherals to verify capacity and capability without impacting operations or customers; reports findings.
- Informs IT Hardware & Software Specialist or designee about software and hardware repairs; documents findings and actions in logs/software systems; follows up to ensure issues are resolved.
- Performs simple repairs (e.g., replacing PCs, peripherals, and component parts) and tunes/adjusts components to correct malfunctions.
- Aids in orientation and training of new staff in Parking, Transportation, & Postal Services for software and/or hardware training where applicable.
- Other duties: provides administrative support (e.g., answering phones during peak times) and assists with major department-related events as support staff.
Qualifications And Skills
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- One year of experience with the types of hardware and/or software to be supported.
- Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis, with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.
