A part-time Sign Language Interpreter is needed to support a 3rd grade student in an elementary school setting in Moundville, AL. The student uses cochlear implants and primarily relies on verbal communication, but the family requests the use of American Sign Language (ASL) to enhance communication skills. Part-time Responsibilities: Provide sign language interpreting services to facilitate effective communication between the student, teachers, and peers. Support classroom instruction and social interactions to promote the students language development. Collaborate with the educational team, including the teacher of the deaf, to implement individualized strategies and support the students learning needs. Utilize ASL consistently as requested by the family to complement the students verbal communication. Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional standards throughout the assignment. Qualifications/Experience: Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and experience interpreting in educational settings. Knowledge of working with students who have cochlear implants and diverse communication needs. Ability to collaborate effectively with educators, students, and families.
