Job Description
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
The Enterprise VMWare Infrastructure Engineer III is primarily responsible for leading, defining and implementing Hoag Hospital's (Hoag) Server configuration standards across the enterprise.
Responsibilities
Works independently to make those day-to-day decisions in the management of the Hoag Enterprise Infrastructure Server environment. Other responsibilities include defining the base server standards, server deployment methods, and application delivery strategy.
Assist with process improvement and to develop and maintain accurate and updated documentation and policies and procedures. Work in cross functional team efforts in complex issues resolution, project planning and implementations.
Applies experience with Virtual hypervisor, Cloud environment, monitoring, patching, updates, and Windows virtual Technologies to support end user.
Support patching, anti-virus, profile management, user experience monitoring, performance improvements, packaging software, and encryption efforts.
Provides technical expertise to evaluate, install and maintain both hardware and software (i.e., scanner / printer certifications, and Tap-to-Print solutions).
Ability to work with cross functional team in resolving complex technical issues and apply experiences with VMware, UMS,Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop virtual technologies to support VDI implementations.
Manage and administer over 2500+ users session and virtual application delivery platform.
Define and maintain enterprise desktop image.
Troubleshooting and Issues Resolution
Partners with technology leads and Enterprise Infrastructure Engineer III to engineer the necessary methodologies and processes needed to scale endpoint computing for growth, peak use capacities, high availability, remote access services, and support the business roadmap for future use cases and expansion.
Participates in activities to evaluate new desktop delivery technology and applications.
Performs tasks associated with evaluation, design, installation, configuration, upgrades, testing, documentation, and expansion to support deploying new technologies and applications in a VDI environment.
Partners with Enterprise Infrastructure I II to align enterprise-wide endpoint solutions with server configurations, updates and technologies to meet needs of our customers on a timely basis.
Technical mentors support staff with advanced technical solutions or problem resolution. Provides advanced support for complex Enterprise Infrastructure servers and application incidents.
Develops and implements changes to existing Server configurations using departmental standards, including appropriate testing, and planning beforehand. Ensures proper tools and equipment are used in monitoring and maintaining server and database performance management.
Ability to participate in 7x24 on call for escalation and working independently.
Qualifications
Min 7 yrs. work experience related to Ent. VMWare Infrastructure Engineering or equivalent field Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Knowledge of access management and privileged access Knowledge of DNS, DHCP, WINS, and TCP/IP Experience with enterprise class servers, VMWare ESX, AWS and Azure, VDI, Citrix XenApp/XenDesktop Server platform Experience with system monitoring software, backup software and recovery procedures Certification related to technology discipline (Systems, Cloud, Virtualization) Expertise in Windows 2016/2019/2022 Operating Systems & Active Directory Associate or related technical field or equivalent work experience Ability to travel
Preferred:
Ability to perform technical documentation of code and procedures Experience working in an acute hospital environment.
Licenses Required:
Current CA Driver's License for local travel
Certifications Preferred:
Microsoft Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate OR Teams/Messaging Administrator Associate- Equivalent OR Infrastructure Automation Certification OR Microsoft Azure Administrator Associate OR AWS Cloud Practitioner Foundational
