White 11 is in search of a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as a Patient Care Assistant I (PCA). This position provides Day and Night schedule coverage on a 24-bed acute medical unit as part of the teaching service at MGH. The unit serves an adult population with a wide range of complex medical problems. Collaboration with all health care workers across disciplines is fundamental to our care on White 11. Location:
White 11, 55 Fruit Street, Boston, MA Schedule:
Days (7am-7pm) and Nights (7pm-7am) with mandatory weekend shifts every month. Responsibilities
Working under the direction of licensed personnel, assist patients with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, eating). Take and record vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiration) and monitor patient status within established timeframes. Complete documentation in the medical record as required. Interact effectively with patients and their families; provide basic hygiene assistance and support with mobility (turning/repositioning in bed, assistance with transfers to wheelchair). Listen to patient health concerns and report them to the nurses; respond to patient needs as appropriate. Qualifications
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. Experience in lieu of degree is not accepted. Licenses & Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification preferred. Other listed certifications (Certified Medical Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic, Nursing Assistant/LNA) are Massachusetts or New Hampshire specific and preferred where applicable. Experience:
1-2 years of experience in patient care/elder care preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions; knowledge of medical terminology; strong patient/customer service skills; ability to lift up to 35 pounds; proficient computer skills for electronic medical records. Additional Details

$18.22 - $26.06 hourly; Grade 3 Benefits & Perks:
