Position Description: Multiply Christian Church in Columbus, Ohio is
looking for a new Lead Pastor, due to the founding pastor/planter
being called to another ministry in his home town.
Multiply was planted in 2020 during the pandemic. At Multiply, we
believe in simplicity. We desire to focus on gathering in worship,
growing in Christlikeness, giving generously of our treasure and time,
and going and multiplying followers of Jesus. 4 basic things with a
big impact!
This Lead Pastor Position will be part-time (20 hours a week) for now,
but hours will be added as the church continues to grow.
Lead Pastor Profile:
Lead Pastor Description:
The Lead Pastor is the spiritual leader and primary communicator
of the church’s vision and biblical teaching and preaching. This
individual provides spiritual leadership, pastoral care, works
alongside staff, the elders and Launch Team (ministry leaders), and
leads the church in fulfilling its mission of multiplying the hope we
have in Jesus in our families, community, and world.
Key Responsibilities:
Preaching and Teaching
Prepare and deliver weekly biblically sound, practical, and
Spirit-led sermons.
Teach and equip the congregation through regular Bible studies,
classes, or Multiply Groups (small groups).
Vision and Leadership:
Provide spiritual and strategic leadership for the church in
partnership with the elders.
Cast and implement a compelling vision for growth, outreach, and discipleship.
Model servant leadership and cultivate a Christlike culture
within the church.
Staff and Ministry Oversight:
Support the church staff and ministry leaders (Launch Team).
Encourage the development of leadership and congregational engagement.
Coordinate ministries to ensure alignment, and achievement, with the
church’s mission and discipleship strategy.
Pastoral Care:
Provide spiritual guidance, prayer, and biblical counseling to
individuals and families.
Visit those in need (hospitalized, grieving, in need of counseling,
or homebound) and ensure care is provided throughout the body.
Officiate weddings, funerals, baptisms, and child dedications.
Outreach and Community Involvement:
Lead the church in local and global outreach initiatives.
Encourage congregational involvement in service projects and evangelism.
Represent the church in the community and build relationships with
other churches (networking), and organizations.
Other Duties:
Duties deemed necessary by the church elders as needed.
Qualifications:
A clear, personal commitment to Jesus Christ and a life marked by
integrity, humility, and the fruit of the Spirit.
Must meet the biblical requirements for pastoral ministry, as
outlined by Paul in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9
Strong agreement with the church’s statement of faith and core
beliefs (Restoration Movement).
Minimum of 5 years of pastoral or ministry leadership experience
preferred, but willing to look at other experiences with demonstrated
leadership in a church context.
A bachelor’s degree is required; theological training (M.Div. or
equivalent) is preferred, but we are willing to look at other
job-related or educational experiences. We prefer a background in the
Restoration Movement and Churches of Christ (instrumental) /
Independent Christian Church.
Proven skills in preaching, leadership, team-building, and
relational ministry.
Emotionally healthy, self-aware, and committed to spiritual growth.
Willing to be bi-vocational. We are a small church plant and unable
to provide a full-time salary at this time. However, with growth,
salary and hours will increase. We have a generous church!

Able to offer practical, biblical, and inspirational sermons and teachings
A heart for people at all stages of faith.
Flexibility and innovation in ministry approaches. This church was
planted 5+ years ago and needs a “next steps” vision for growth.
Spiritually discerning and biblically grounded in decision-making.
