As an Equipment Operator, you’ll join a collaborative team ensuring that our clients can deliver their services - uninterrupted. Based in The Villages, FL, you'll operate small dump trucks, farm-type tractors, bush hogs, ditch witches, street sweepers, rubber-tired backhoe, and similar equipment on an assigned shift.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Services equipment and makes field repairs and adjustments; reports needs for major repair to supervisor Operates dump trucks in picking up and delivering materials, debris, and supplies Services vehicles with gas, oil, and water; notifies mechanic of any repair needs Assists with household refuse collection Adheres to established safety procedures Performs other duties as required Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
The work area can involve a working environment indoors as well as outdoors, which could cause exposure to outdoor elements; proper environmental attire will be required. Some areas can have loud noise, active machinery, high-pressure fluid systems, electrical equipment, confined spaces, heights and depths, fumes, airborne particles, noxious gases, pathogens, and various chemicals. The use of appropriate safety equipment will be mandatory in these areas to prevent hazardous contact. Must be able to sit, stand, stoop, twist, bend at the waist, turn, kneel, squat, raise arms above shoulder height, grasp, reach, perform repetitive hand movements and fine coordination to work on equipment, have vision sufficient to service equipment, have hearing in the normal range with or without correction. In an 8-hour shift, must be able to transport self across the facility, ascend and descend stair steps, lift objects up to 50 pounds from floor level to waist height; climb and work off of a ladder or scaffold and climb into and out of vehicles with high ground clearance; use arms and back to tighten and loosen nuts and bolts; work in confined spaces, drive for 8 hours a day, and wear and use appropriate safety equipment. Must be able to operate equipment over rough terrain for extended periods. Here’s what you’ll need: One year of experience operating light construction equipment Possess a valid commercial driver’s license with ability to be covered by Jacobs’ insurance carrier Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed Ability to manage a 2-3 person team The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience: Two years’ experience in public works Knowledge of work hazards, safety procedures, and traffic laws relating to equipment operation Knowledge of the functions, operating methods, and care required in the operation of light construction equipment used in public works projects Knowledge of and skill in the operation and maintenance of light-duty construction equipment Seniority level
