HR Generalist

Location: New York, NY (Hybrid or Remote)

CSH is accepting applications for a HR Generalist based in New York City. This is a temporary contract role for 3–4 months (with potential for extension based on project needs). Applicants must live in the New York City metro area. The position is hybrid or remote from the NYC office.

Why we need you

CSH seeks a results-oriented HR Generalist to support a mission-driven organization that expands housing and service solutions for highly impacted populations. This is a project-based role ideal for someone with strong documentation skills, HR process knowledge, and hands-on Paycom experience. The role requires someone who can integrate quickly into the team and drive results on short-term initiatives, working with the HR team and across departments to deliver accurately.

What you will do

HRIS Optimization

  • Audit and clean up employee data in Paycom; streamline workflows and automate processes
  • Customize fields, templates, and forms to align with updated SOPs and policies
  • Audit and update user access levels to ensure appropriate data visibility and security
  • Build and schedule reports for HR metrics such as turnover, time-to-fill, and training compliance
  • Develop HR dashboards

New Hire Orientation

  • Design and implement a standardized orientation program
  • Collaborate with departments to ensure content is relevant and engaging
  • Integrate orientation materials into Paycom where applicable

Process Documentation

  • Conduct interviews with HR team to understand current workflows
  • Document and format operational guidelines for HR and cross-functional processes, including procedures using Paycom
  • Ensure all documentation is clear, accessible, and aligned with compliance standards
  • Recommend improvements for scalability and efficiency

Policy Development

  • Research and draft rewards and recognition policy aligned with organizational values
  • Support benchmarking and internal equity analysis
  • Collaborate with leadership to finalize and communicate policy

Professional Development Policy Update

  • Review current criteria and policies
  • Recommend updates to support career growth and performance alignment
  • Document and format the revised policy for internal distribution

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of HR generalist or HR project experience
  • Strong working knowledge of Paycom HRIS
  • Proven experience in writing operational guidelines, HR policies, and onboarding materials
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Experience with performance, compensation strategy and recruitment process design is a plus
  • CSH uses Microsoft Office; proficiency is required, with a commitment to self-learning on hire
  • Candidates seeking to work hybrid must provide access to a secure high-speed internet signal (preferably hard wired) at capacity to support video, web, and email processing. Typically 100Mb and above

Compensation

  • $30–$40/hour, depending on experience and location (team based in NYC)
  • Contracted for 20–30 hours/week, with flexibility based on project needs
