Overview

The University of California, Riverside is seeking an Accounting Manager to join the Accounting Office. Under the minimal direction of the Assistant Controller, the Accounting Manager is responsible for the overall management of Treasury and General Accounting. The role includes developing financial models and strategies to inform executive decision making, supporting campus-wide strategic planning, and ensuring liquidity, cash flow, and risk budget alignment. The position also oversees capital funding feasibility and a broad set of accounting activities across multiple fund groups.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Treasury and General Accounting functions, including capitalization, depreciation, tax reporting (unrelated business income tax, sales/use tax, NCAA), journal generation, month-end and year-end closings, non-payroll cost transfers, inter-campus transfers, and campus recharges.
  • Direct and develop policies and procedures for Accounting Office and campus-wide operations, including internal controls and complex accounting solutions in line with NACUBO and GASB fund accounting principles.
  • Supervise 5 staff members performing high-level accounting activities and interact with the campus community and external auditors.
  • Participate in Accounting Office management planning and leverage technology to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Oversee primary fund groups: Plant Funds, Loan Funds, General Funds, University Funds, Auxiliary and Service Funds, and Campus Reserves.
  • Ensure compliance with University policies and collective bargaining agreements; support relevant government directives as applicable.

Qualifications

  • Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • Master’s Degree: Master’s degree in business administration or related field (required for certain roles).
  • Experience: 8 - 13 years of related experience; previous supervisory/managerial experience; accounting experience in an education setting; experience with Oracle Financials.
  • Preferred: Knowledge of UC/UCR policies, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and university fund accounting principles; knowledge of Oracle Cloud Financials.

Compensation

The full salary range is $93,200.00 – $174,200.00 annually; expected pay up to $133,700.00 annually. Salary offers are based on education, licensure/certifications, experience, and organizational needs.
