Primary Talent Partners has a 6 month contract Process Development Scientist opening with a pharmaceutical client located out of Elkton, VA. This position will be a full-time, onsite role with potential for contract extension or direct-hire conversion. Pay:

$30 to $37/hr; W2 contract, no PTO, no Benefits. ACA-compliant supplemental package available for enrollment. Schedule:

The Rotating 3-2-3 Schedule follows a 12-hour shift pattern (6 AM - 6 PM for day shifts, 6 PM - 6 AM for night shifts), where employees work three consecutive days, followed by two days off, then work three nights, followed by two days off, and onward. Description:

We are seeking a Process Development Associate I to join our Technical Operations Department and support the manufacturing of HPV Gardasil as part of a multidisciplinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in fermentation, cell culture, protein purification, and analytical techniques to support commercial and bench-scale pharmaceutical processes. As part of the Process Development Team, you will contribute to process understanding, troubleshooting, and technology transfer efforts through laboratory-scale studies. This role offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with cross-functional teams across the network to ensure the sustained production of life-saving medications. Key Responsibilities: Conduct fermentation and/or purification of proteins/VLPs at lab and pilot scale. Execute process development activities and support manufacturing investigations. Design, perform, and troubleshoot laboratory-scale experiments to support process improvements. Maintain detailed laboratory records (notebooks, chemical inventory, data management). Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to interpret data and drive project objectives. Apply aseptic techniques and maintain high standards of laboratory operations. Author technical documentation, including reports, protocols, and procedures. Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and quality standards. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biology, Life Sciences, or Engineering. Experience in bio-reactors and/or micro-fermentation. 1-2 years of experience with wet chemistry laboratory techniques (pipetting, buffer prep, filtration, dilution, stoichiometry). Strong proficiency in technical writing and documentation. Excellent problem-solving, collaboration, and team-working skills. Preferred Qualifications: Experience conducting fermentation or cell culture studies at lab scale (including shake flasks). Knowledge of yeast fermentation and metabolism. Hands-on experience with automation systems (DeltaV preferred). Industry experience in laboratory operations or facility operations. Experience with process characterization studies and troubleshooting technical issues.
