Overview

The Senior Accountant of Accounting Excellence at Gilbane will help drive efficiency and consistency throughout the accounting and finance department. The role includes developing and maintaining a training program to ensure consistent accounting procedures for all Gilbane accounting and finance professionals. Responsibilities include facilitating an onboarding training program and continuing education programs for the accounting team. This role is open to any location and will sit remote with the option to go into a local Gilbane office.

Responsibilities

  • Work with subject matter experts to maintain and further develop process and procedures documentation.
  • Utilize LEAN process improvements with input from a large cross-section of the finance team and ensure best practices are included in all processes.
  • Lead the process for standard training plan for all new accountants.
  • Continuously develop and update reference material and best practices for all accounting and finance disciplines at Gilbane.
  • Conduct in-person training as needed for entry-level and new accountants.
  • Participate and provide training at Division Peer Group meetings.
  • Partner with Gilbane University to develop online and in-person programs for training existing staff to ensure consistent practices.
  • Coordinate with Director of Accounting to ensure processes include proper internal controls.

Experience / Education

Qualifications

  • BS Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in Accounting and Finance positions, preferably with Gilbane or another construction company
  • LEAN certification or project management training
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly organized with the ability to meet key deadlines and schedules
  • Ability to lead large groups of subject matter experts in remote locations with continuous follow-up
  • Project management, process implementation, and scheduling skills
  • Thorough understanding of construction project accounting processes and procedures
  • Advanced experience with Gilbane systems including CMiC, Textura, MicroStrategy, PowerPoint, Excel and Word

This position can be performed remotely or from any U.S. location where Gilbane has an office. Salary to be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience of the applicant, as well as internal equity and team alignment. The pay ranges from $84,000.00-$116,000.00 plus benefits and retirement program. Gilbane offers an excellent total compensation package including health and welfare benefits and a generous profit-sharing/401k plan.
