Overview

Under close supervision, operates several types of specialized and heavy construction and maintenance equipment requiring a high degree of skill and attention. Performs skilled and general labor as required when not operating equipment. Provides guidance and leadership to Trades Workers and others. Trains new employees in the operation and care of equipment.

• Operate several types of specialized and heavy construction and maintenance equipment under close supervision.
• Perform skilled and general labor as required when not operating equipment.

• Train new employees in the operation and care of equipment.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED
• Experience: Two years of experience operating heavy construction and maintenance equipment and performing related skilled work
• Certifications: Valid commercial driver's license at hire

Note

The City retains the right to determine equivalencies. Any certifications not possessed at hire must be obtained before the employee is removed from probation in order to continue employment with the City.

Physical requirements

Must be physically able to operate dump trucks, tractors, dresser loader, rollers, motor grader, backhoe, track hoe, carpentry, masonry and asphalt tools, and numerous other small tools and equipment. Must be able to exert in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of 10 to 100 pounds.
