Responsibilities
- Operates Department vehicles, providing passengers with timely, reliable, and safe transportation. Vehicles may include buses, vans, paratransit vans for handicapped passengers, and other Department inventory depending on assignment.
- Collects fares and/or checks passes or transportation vouchers.
- Conducts pre-trip and post-trip checks of the vehicle, including fuel and fluid levels, tires, and mechanical problems or damage.
- Assists passengers on and off the vehicle as needed, including operating a wheelchair lift and securing wheelchairs.
- Answers questions and inquiries from passengers and provides fare and route information, schedules, transfers, and maps. Promotes positive passenger experience and maintains order in the vehicle.
- Maintains route logs, reports, and documentation.
- Performs all work duties and activities in accordance with City policies, procedures, and safety practices.

Qualifications and Licenses
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Class B CDL with airbrake and passenger endorsements required.
- One (1) year of large vehicle driving experience is preferred.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities may be considered.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of operation of vehicles in the Department inventory and related passenger information.
- Knowledge of ADA and other applicable federal, state, and local regulations affecting public transportation.
- Ability to operate a personal computer and job-related software applications.
- Ability to operate a two-way radio, read maps and schedules, and maintain route records and documentation.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English and maintain a professional demeanor.
- Ability to perform duties with regard for personal safety and the safety of others.
Physical Requirements
Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, bend, handle materials, use hands, and operate a motor vehicle or related equipment. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with assistance. Sufficient visual acuity and hearing capacity to perform essential functions.
