Kern Medical Position: Vocational Nurse II - OB/Gyn Clinic Description Under general supervision, to provide patient care as assigned in a hospital, clinic, correctional facility, or in-patient psychiatric setting. Compensation The estimated pay for this position is

$26.78 to $38.07 . The rates include a 6% premium pay. Additional compensation may be available through differentials, incentives, and bonuses. This position may also be eligible for participation and contributions into the Kern County Employees’ Retirement Plan. Essential Functions Perform patient care functions supporting registered nurses and medical staff, including general nursing care, minor dressing changes, vital signs, medication administration (if certified), and assisting with examinations and treatments. Provide direct psychiatric nursing care, participate in psychotherapy sessions, develop treatment plans, and maintain related records. Perform nursing care in correctional settings, including vital signs, medication, and treatment administration, and assist with dressings. Employment Standards Possess a current BLS card; maintain RQI Provider certification. Education requirements include completion of a Vocational Nurse curriculum or equivalent, and possession of a valid California Vocational Nurse license. Intravenous infusion certification required for Vocational Nurse II. Experience requirements vary by option, including inpatient psychiatry, correctional health, or general nursing experience. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, lift up to 70 lbs., and perform tasks requiring fine motor skills. Good visual and auditory acuity required. Knowledge and Ability Knowledge of patient care techniques and equipment; ability to follow instructions, react in emergencies, and maintain effective relations with staff. Additional Information Background checks and fingerprinting may be required. Valid California driver’s license required if applicable.
