Traylor/Massman JV is a joint venture consisting of Traylor Bros., Inc. and Massman Construction Co. for the new bridge which will replace an existing bridge and tunnel with two lanes of travel in each direction. The new structure, with a 73-foot vertical clearance and 150-foot wide horizontal clearance, will be located between the existing vertical lift bridge and tunnel. The completion date is scheduled for April 2024.
TMJV is currently hiring for a Heavy Equipment Mechanic to work on Heavy Construction Equipment. This position is based in Belle Chasse, LA.
Essential Functions
- Service a wide variety of construction equipment including Lattice Boom and Hydraulic Cranes, Loaders, Excavators, Dozers, Rollers, Concrete Equipment.
- Check all fluids and grease points of Cranes, Dirt Equipment, Pile Driving Equipment, etc.
- Follow manufacturers' recommended maintenance schedule.
- Produce high quality and cost-effective work results.
- Maintain accurate record keeping of all daily tasks.
- Keep work area and machines clean and in good operating condition.
- Perform visual inspections on equipment and provide written report of conditions and deficiencies.
- Troubleshoot Engine, Hydraulic, Electrical, A/C, on Board Computer and Electronics.
- Repair and at times, rebuild equipment.
- Work safely and follow all instructions related to company policies and regulatory agencies during the performance of duties.
- Flexibility to work night shift and weekends may be required for a short duration.
- Assemble Lattice Boom Cranes under AD Director supervision.
Required Skills & Experience
- Must possess a valid DL.
- Must have a clean driving record.
- Must pass a pre-employment physical examination and must be capable of lifting 50 lbs.
- 2+ years experience in the Heavy Equipment Maintenance or Crane related industry and/or an educational degree in Diesel related technical courses.
- Have own hand tools and storage necessary to perform preventative maintenance on heavy equipment.
- Weld and/or fabrication experience preferred.
- Climb and crawl on equipment as necessary.
- Strong punctuality and attendance required.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-motivated and capable of following directions and effectively work in a team environment.
- Computer skills a plus.
- Maintain work area clean by practicing good housekeeping.
