Join Our Amazing Team and Contribute as a Heavy Equipment Operator. All duties are performed in a work-safe manner; plant safety rules are followed and individuals work as team members. Mobile operators have primary responsibility for performing all plant and quarry tasks that require the use of heavy mobile equipment. The limestone quarry and plant equipment are operated by mobile operators.
Responsibilities
- Understand and comply with Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) policies, prioritizing environmental, health and safety. Actively support key safety initiatives and assist the department to improve EHS performance and results.
- Operate limestone quarry and plant mobile equipment as part of a team led by a salaried supervisor; adjust tasks and equipment as plant needs change.
- Collaborate with production and maintenance personnel to reduce and eliminate production interruptions.
- Demonstrate commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to health, safety, and environmental policies in all work environments; promote a culture of safety.
Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma
Required Work Experience
- Ability to work well in a team and with limited supervision.
- Willingness to work holidays, weekends, various shifts, and overtime as directed.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute positively within teams.
- Willingness to accept change and strive for improvement.
- Demonstrated ability to operate mobile equipment.
- Basic computer skills.
- Physical ability to travel through an aggregate plant (walking over obstacles, climbing stairs and ladders, lifting heavy or awkward parts, wearing PPE).
- Exposure to hot/cold, dusty, noisy, or dark environments; work may be at heights or in confined spaces.
Additional Requirements
- Previous sand and gravel experience (preferred).
- Welding/cutting experience (plus).
- Basic math, reading, and writing skills (English).
- Experience with haul trucks and loaders (preferred); excavator experience (preferred).
- Knowledge of products and industry terminology.
- Punctual, reliable with good attendance; strong verbal and listening communication skills.
- Adherence to safety protocols and proper use of PPE, including respirators where required. If respirators are worn, candidates must be able to pass fit tests.
