Job Title: Hardware Test Technician
Location: Bradenton, FL
Employment Type: Contract to Hire
Salary: $20/hr - $25/hr on W2
Job Description
This position is responsible for performing hardware and agency testing of electronic hardware systems and associated products. Responsible for the installation, setup, and configuration of test infrastructure, components, and operating systems. Supports the development and execution of test fixtures and automation scripts for hardware validation. Ensures test environments are properly configured and available for each project as scheduled. Conducts tests in accordance with industry standards, including UL, FM, and other regulatory requirements. Utilizes digital multimeters (DMM), oscilloscopes, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, etc. for validation and compliance testing. Executes defined test procedures and updates test cases as needed to align with hardware and agency testing requirements. Documents, tracks, and reports defects, ensuring issues are fully characterized and reproducible. Provides technical documentation and training related to hardware and agency compliance testing. Receives on-the-job training to understand RF test equipment such as spectrum analyzers and signal generators. Participates in special projects and performs other duties as required. Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Visio. Good communication and teamwork abilities. Ability to read schematics, layout drawings, and follow test procedures. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. Ability to stand, bend, and lift (less than 50 lbs.) for extended periods of time.
Responsibilities

Top must haves
- 5+ years of technical experience or completion of a 2-year technical training program or associate's degree
- [Preferred: Background in Mechanical/Electrical or Engineering Trade School]
- Proficient with Test Equipment (Oscilloscope, Multimeter, Programmable Power Supplies, etc.)
- Test Experience but [Testing to Compliance Standards (UL, FM, IEC 61000.) Nice to Have]
- Detail-oriented, with strong skills in data documentation and analysis, tracking and reporting defects, ensuring issues are fully characterized; AutoCAD experience is a plus
- UL (Underwriters Laboratories) focuses on general product safety
- FM (Factory Mutual) focuses on risk management, fire protection, and ensuring products meet standards
- Test needs to be exact, technical, and detail oriented
- System is freehand
- RF type of testing - test equipment by airport
- Testing - unique test setups, 2-D and 3-D drawings - CAD experience is a plus
Preferred
- Basic knowledge of RF principles is a plus
- Ability to design and document test fixtures and setups
- Experience with AutoCAD or other drawing software
- Experience with electrical and IP network wiring
- Experience with UL, FCC, and other agency testing
- Prior experience in a lab or test environment
