Like Google’s own ambitions, the work of a Software Engineer goes beyond just Search. Software Engineering Managers have not only the technical expertise to take on and provide technical leadership to major projects, but also manage a team of engineers. You not only optimize your own code but make sure engineers are able to optimize theirs. As a Software Engineering Manager you manage your project goals, contribute to product strategy and help develop your team. Teams work across the company in areas such as information retrieval, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking, security, data compression, and user interface design. Operating with scale and speed, our software engineers are just getting started — and as a manager, you guide the way. With technical and leadership expertise, you manage engineers across multiple teams and locations, a large product budget, and oversee the deployment of large-scale projects across multiple sites internationally. As a Software Engineering Manager, you will define and execute the technical strategy for the Software Development Kits (SDKs) Catalog. You will architect systems that analyze and present information on thousands of Android SDKs. This is an opportunity to shape a critical piece of the Android ecosystem, with impact on developer productivity and platform security. Android is Google’s mobile operating system powering more than 3 billion devices worldwide. Android aims to bring computing to everyone in the world and to provide access to information, opportunity, productivity, and connectivity. Google provides the platform for OEMs and developers to build compelling devices that run the best apps and services for people worldwide. Responsibilities
Architect, design, and implement the core back-end systems for the SDK Catalog, capable of managing data ingestion from sources like app analysis and direct developer contributions. Develop and integrate intelligent systems, including large language models (LLMs), to process SDK data from sources such as release notes and privacy policies. Lead the design and implementation of APIs and integrations that make the SDK Catalog data available to humans and automated tools, including the public-facing SDK Pedia website and Android Studio IDE. Drive the long-term technical direction for the SDK Catalog, identifying new opportunities to expand its value and utility. Collaborate with Google’s security infrastructure teams to incorporate security and privacy analysis into catalog data. Google is proud to be an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer. We are committed to building a workforce that is representative of the users we serve, creating a culture of belonging, and providing equal employment opportunity regardless of race, creed, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, national origin, disability, age, genetic information, veteran status, marital status, pregnancy or related condition, or any other basis protected by law. See also Google’s EEO Policy and related resources. Google is a global company and, to facilitate efficient collaboration and communication globally, English proficiency is a requirement for all roles unless stated otherwise in the job posting. To all recruitment agencies: Google does not accept agency resumes. Please do not forward resumes to our jobs alias, Google employees, or any other organization location. Google is not responsible for any fees related to unsolicited resumes.
