Hardware Engineering Manager / Team Leader Ocius Technology is an Australian company dedicated to developing and deploying cutting edge Uncrewed Surface Vehicles (USVs). Our vessel's harness Wind, Solar and Wave power to remain at sea collecting vital data for Defence and Civilian applications. We are under contracts with RAN, RNZN and USA and are responding in an agile way to an ambitious program of building and deploying multiple USVs for operations around Australia and beyond. About the Role The Hardware Engineer TL will be responsible for the line management of a high performing team of Engineers, across Mechanical, Electronics and Mechatronics. The role will also be responsible for delivering robust, mission-critical systems, whilst ensuring engineering best practice is followed. The Engineering function is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the design of Ocius assets, particularly the Bluebottle platform, while actively responding to operational and production requirements to ensure continuous improvement. A typical day could include: Designing, developing, integrating, and validating for autonomous vehicle control Interacting with stakeholders to obtain and understand requirements and deliverables, and develop test plans Collaborating with cross-functional, multi-disciplinary teams to develop innovative solutions in Autonomous vehicle control Selection Criteria Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Mechanical, Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent Demonstrated People Leadership experience, coaching and leading high performing engineering teams (>3years) Experience delivering complex hardware systems from concept to production Familiarity with embedded systems, electronics design, and mechanical design with deep technical skills in one discipline. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with a proven ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, accessible language for diverse audiences.
