Role: Heavy Equipment Operator at Amrize

Responsibilities

  • All duties are performed in a work-safe manner; plant safety rules are followed and individuals work as team members. Mobile operators are given primary responsibility for performing all plant and quarry tasks that require the use of heavy mobile equipment. The associated equipment of the limestone quarry and the plant equipment are also considered equipment to be operated through mobile operators. Experience working with a drag line is required.
  • Shift: 3pm - 12am
  • Understand and comply with Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) policies; prioritize environmental, health and safety in all business activities.
  • Actively support key safety initiatives and assist the department as needed to improve EHS performance and results.
  • Operate a variety of tasks and equipment depending on plant needs; demonstrate flexibility and ability to work under changing requirements.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments; promote a culture of safety.

What We’re Looking For (Qualifications)

  • Required Education: High School Diploma
  • Must pass all plant minimum required hiring qualifications
  • Experience working with a drag line
  • Ability to work well in a team and in a minimally supervised setting
  • Willingness to work holidays, weekends, various shifts and overtime as directed
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute positively when working within teams
  • Willingness to accept change and strive for improvement
  • Demonstrated ability to operate mobile equipment
  • Basic computer skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to travel through an aggregate plant, walk over obstacles, climb stairs and ladders, lift heavy or awkward parts, wear PPE (hardhat, safety glasses, fall protection, respirators, etc.). May be exposed to extreme temperatures, dust, noise, or low visibility; work may occur at great heights or in confined spaces

Additional Requirements

  • Previous underground mining experience (preferred)
  • Welding, cutting experience (plus; not required)
  • Basic math, reading, and writing skills (English)
  • Experience with haul trucks, loaders, and various mine equipment (preferred)
  • Willing to work overtime and weekends as needed
  • MSHA Part 48 training (preferred)
  • Local 150 preferred
  • Knowledge of products and industry terminology
  • Safety-oriented with safe work habits; punctual and reliable with good attendance
  • Good verbal and listening communication skills
  • Adherence to safety protocols and proper use of Amrize PPE, including respirator policies
