This role focuses on HVAC and building sustainability technologies to deliver pilots and scale solutions that accelerate clean HVAC technologies across Amazon facilities. Key responsibilities

Evaluate emerging HVAC technologies and vendors for applications such as advanced heat pumps, geothermal systems, advanced air filtration, DOAS, evaporative cooling, and data-driven preventive maintenance strategies applicable to Amazon facilities. Lead multiple development projects that integrate sustainable HVAC technologies from concept through execution, including business case development, stakeholder alignment, vendor selection, technical scoping, permitting, design, construction, commissioning, and launch. Identify and drive continuous improvement in HVAC and mechanical systems to increase energy efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and enhance performance. Develop and own the roadmap for enhancing efficiency, improving life/durability, and reducing total cost of ownership for sustainable HVAC systems. Create, collect and maintain project documentation, including technical specifications, drawings, and progress reports. Collaborate with suppliers, contractors, consultants, certification agencies and construction managers to deliver solutions at Amazon buildings. Establish and track KPIs for monitoring, evaluating and reporting on performance of HVAC systems and suppliers to stakeholders. Evaluate the latest sustainable technologies and industry trends and identify opportunities for implementation. Collaborate with compliance and health and safety teams to validate new technologies that comply with regulations and standards. Stay up-to-date with sustainable technologies and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards; engage with external innovation partners to assess new HVAC technologies. Oversee the delivery of capital projects related to mechanical systems from scoping and design to construction and commissioning. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including technology providers, customers, partners, and vendors, to deliver complex cross-functional projects. Identify and drive improvements in the BMS, HVAC and mechanical systems to increase energy efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and enhance performance. Provide technical leadership on BMS, HVAC and mechanical system design, installation, operation, and maintenance. Lead cross-functional teams, manage resources, and maintain project schedules and budgets. Monitor and report on the performance and efficiency of HVAC and mechanical systems. Review engineering designs, drawings, construction and commissioning documentation, and perform system inspections for quality, safety and regulatory compliance. Participate in/lead Root Cause Failure Analysis to resolve systemic or recurring technical issues with corrective actions. Support hazard evaluations and risk assessments to comply with OSHA, EPA, and International Building Code requirements or methodologies. Analyze operational data, KPIs, and OEE to identify gaps and improvement opportunities. Lead discussions to address concerns and RFIs, using technical knowledge and stakeholder collaboration to ensure customer satisfaction. Interview stakeholders to gather essential features and requirements for new technology deployment and build the business case for adoption. Develop roadmaps for new technology with short-term and long-term scaling strategies. Travel up to 25%. Qualifications

Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or relevant technical discipline 10+ years of experience in HVAC and mechanical system design, construction, operations, or maintenance, ideally in manufacturing, industrial warehouse, or commercial building environments. Experience managing multiple programs/projects with effective time management and influence across an organization. Proven knowledge of HVAC systems and air distribution equipment (RTUs, CRAC, DOAS, HVLS, exhaust, advanced filtration or zoning). Hands-on testing, troubleshooting, and diagnostics of base building mechanical systems using relevant tools and software. Experience supervising or managing HVAC and utility installations in new construction, retrofits, or energy upgrade projects. Ability to interpret and adjust based on TAB reports, commissioning results, and control setpoints. Familiarity with safety standards and regulatory requirements including IBC, NEC, ASME, NFPA and ASHRAE standards. Experience in a supervisory or project management role for installation of utilities and infrastructure in new construction and existing buildings. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to analyze electrical control wiring and related HVAC instrumentation. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree or MBA. Professional Engineering (PE) license, Certified Energy Manager (CEM), or LEED accreditation. Experience with BMS data analytics, demand-controlled ventilation, and setpoint tuning. Proficiency in retro-commissioning, M&V protocols, and ESCO performance contracting. Ability to build simplified load calculation models to estimate energy savings and guide equipment selection. Ability to adapt to tight deadlines, heavy workloads, and changing priorities. Understanding of psychometrics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid dynamics for HVAC applications. Strong interpersonal and communication skills to lead multidisciplinary teams. Experience with Niagara BMS or similar historian data analysis. Ability to train site technicians on HVAC, Mechanical, and Plumbing operation and maintenance. Six Sigma/Project Management certification (PMP or equivalent).
