As the Senior Staff Software Engineer for Scout Motors’ digital products organization, you will help develop and enhance software products from concept to deployment. Key products include mobile and desktop applications, vehicle connectivity solutions, mapping services, production planning, servicing and repairs, and more. You will collaborate with engineering managers, staff engineers, and cross‑functional partners to design the technical underpinnings of the product, contribute hands‑on engineering, and mentor other engineers while delivering large‑scale technical initiatives. What you’ll do
Become part of an iconic brand revolutionizing the electric pickup truck and rugged SUV marketplace by performing the following: Architect, design, and develop scalable and performant front‑end applications for web and mobile. Define and drive front‑end best practices, including accessibility, security, testing, performance, and maintainability. Lead and mentor engineers across multiple squads, raising the technical bar for front‑end engineering. Collaborate with Design and Product teams to deliver delightful user experiences while balancing feasibility and scalability. Make critical decisions on frameworks, tooling, and component architecture to support long‑term code health. Contribute to the technical roadmap and guide major initiatives from concept to launch. Collaborate with backend and platform engineers to ensure smooth integration across the digital stack. Be a hands‑on contributor while influencing engineering culture and processes. This role is based in Fremont, California, with in‑office attendance once per week and regular in‑person meetings and events. Travel to participate in company events as needed. What you’ll bring

Here’s what else you’ll bring: Education/Certifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field. Experience: 10+ years in software development and scaling software products, with 4+ years in technical leadership focused on front‑end development. Communication: Excellent written and verbal skills to articulate technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders. Deep expertise with React.js, WebGL, GSAP, Framer, Stro, and related ecosystems and best practices; knowledge of their ecosystems. Expertise in micro‑frontend architecture for large‑scale systems. Ability to define and drive the architectural direction for front‑end systems, with experience consuming GraphQL, REST, and RPC APIs. Knowledge of UI/UX design principles, responsive/mobile‑first design, SEO, accessibility (WCAG), and performance optimization. Familiarity with analytics, experimentation platforms, and feature flagging tools. Experience with CI/CD, automated testing (Playwright, Cypress), and cloud environments (AWS preferred). Contributions to technical roadmaps and strategic planning aligning front‑end with business goals. Experience operating in startup environments, launching 0 to 1 products. Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills with a passion for elegant solutions. Optional: Experience in manufacturing or automotive environments; security practices aligned with OWASP Top 10; experience building mobile apps or backend services. What you’ll gain
