Forter is looking for a
Staff Software Engineer, Growth Engineering
to lead the technical strategy and architecture of our merchant Onboarding Experience platform. Your mission is to slash integration time from months to weeks (or less), cut internal hand-offs, and unlock faster time-to-revenue. Operating as Forter’s most senior engineer in North America, you’ll bridge Go-to-Market teams with global R&D, hunting for friction, proposing bold initiatives, and driving them end to end. What you’ll be doing
Spot, scope, and lead
high-impact onboarding initiatives: SDKs, schema-aware mapping automation, enhancements to our Integration Center, and self-serve validation pipelines. Architect and evolve
a multi-tenant onboarding platform that copes with Forter’s vertical-specific schemas while remaining simple for merchants’ developers. Partner cross-functionally
with Implementation Engineering, Customer Success, Support, Analytics, and Sales to translate real-world pain points into reusable platform capabilities—never one-off projects. Mentor and multiply : guide North America-based engineers via design reviews, ADRs, and architecture sessions; represent the Onboarding Experience team in company-wide forums. Drive the technical vision
and long-term roadmap, ensuring the platform directly supports Forter’s strategic goals—accelerating revenue growth, reducing time-to-revenue, and simplifying revenue diversification. Champion developer experience : clear docs, open-source examples, automated tests, friction-free releases, so our platform becomes a strategic differentiator. What you’ll need
8+ years
building production systems and developer-facing platforms, with
2+ years at Staff-level
(or equivalent) owning architecture and cross-functional initiatives. A track record of
shipping SDKs, APIs, or tooling
that external engineers rely on and iterating via docs, samples, and community feedback. Hands-on depth with Node.js/Python and AWS-based architectures. Business-impact mindset : comfortable measuring success in time-to-integration and revenue acceleration. Stellar communication
and influence skills; you translate between technical, product, and commercial languages with ease. Self-directed, entrepreneurial approach : you find problems, align stakeholders, and drive to results without formal process. Would be cool if you have: Background in partner, solutions, or developer advocacy engineering: creating code samples, or tooling at scale Experience working with eCommerce platforms and understanding merchant data flows Exposure to payments infrastructure, especially providers like Stripe, Adyen, Braintree, or Worldpay About us
