Overview
ERM NewFields
is seeking an experienced
Consultant, Environmental Engineer, Scientist / Geologist
to perform various analysis and design tasks related to soil and groundwater investigations for our
Red Bank, New Jersey
location. This position is responsible for the characterization, design, and management of soil and groundwater remediation projects in cooperation with a project team. Using various scientific methodologies and disciplines, the Environmental Engineer/Geologist/Scientist will help plan, collect, synthesize, and study source data to assess remediation alternatives and compile high-quality technical reports and presentations. The ideal candidate will have excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with sound judgment and a desire to learn new skills while working in a collaborative environment. The position requires superior written and oral skills and the ability to interface effectively with personnel and clients. The position requires the Candidate to perform field work and be HAZWOPER trained.
Responsibilities
Support the evaluation of the nature and extent of contamination, support risk assessments, and evaluate remedial alternatives.
Conduct environmental field investigations and data collection/sampling.
Oversee field activities (i.e., drilling, sampling, maintenance activities, and routine testing) and subcontractors.
Conduct site testing, design/optimize remediation systems, and evaluate viable remedial alternatives.
Prepare work plans, cost estimates, project schedules, and project proposals for continuing investigation and remedial activities at various sites.
Evaluate, select, and apply standard techniques and procedures for engineering data analysis. Compile and assess environmental data using spreadsheets, databases, and GIS.
Prepare accurate and professional technical reports and presentations.
Document research and review related to environmental impacts.
Conduct self-monitoring quality assurance/quality control and QA/QC reviews of other professionals.
Adhere to ERM NewFields and client health and safety practices and protocols.
Participate in team-based project work resulting in client satisfaction and the on-time completion of quality technical work products.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering or related discipline.
2+ years experience in environmental consulting or related field.
Knowledge of New Jersey environmental regulations and technical guidance.
Familiar with MS Office.
40 hour-HAZWOPER certification with 8 hour refresher.
Willingness to conduct field work in remote locations and inclement weather.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Required Travel: Seldom to moderate overnight travel events may be required.
Physical requirements: sitting for long periods, extended hours on a computer, lifting up to 40 pounds; field assignments in varied climate conditions; standing, squatting, bending; PPE usage as needed; able to receive medical clearance to visit remote sites. PPE may include hard hats, steel-toed boots, protective eyewear, safety vests, gloves, and flame-retardant clothing as per facility safety plans (up to ~12 times per year).
Ability to drive multiple hours per day, travel to client offices and project sites across the tri-state area.
Driver's License Required: valid driver's license and ability to operate a company vehicle due to travel requirements.
This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.
Preferred
Perform Phase I and II environmental site assessments to support property transfer transactions per ASTM standards.
Familiar with AutoCAD, ArcGIS, and groundwater transport models such as ModFlow 6 or similar.
For the Consultant, Environmental Geology or Engineering position, we anticipate the annual base pay of $74,000 – $82,923 (USD). An employee’s pay position within this range will be based on factors including education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs. We also may have instances where an employee falls outside of the range based on these factors. This job may be eligible for bonus pay (casual and fixed term/flex force employees are NOT bonus eligible).
