JOB SUMMARY / PURPOSE
The Environmental Services Manager will provide leadership, direction and management oversight for continuous improvement of the standard EVS operating model within the facility. Creates a highly equipped and engaged Environmental Services Team using evidence-based techniques, process and mission metrics (KPIs) to ensure we provide a clean safe environment as we help save lives. Provides staff leadership, making sound business decisions in support of the hospital’s mission and vision. Demonstrates leadership in providing an optimal environment for patient care, safety, service, and value. Manages the day to day operations of the department; ensures a clean safe environment and aesthetics to patients, family, visitors, physicians, nurses and staff as we help save lives.
Essential Key Job Responsibilities
Completes performance reviews, disciplinary actions, scheduling, employee engagement survey action planning, interviewing, hiring and retention of staff.
Collaboration with other departments, EOC, IP/IC committees.
Evaluates and makes recommendations for environmental hygiene maintenance for new floor coverings, wall coverings, furnishings and interior finishes prior to purchase.
Manages departmental budgets (e.g., capital, projects, supplies, operations). Ensures regulated medical waste is handled, packaged, stored and disposed of in accordance with federal and state regulations, and appropriate documentation is maintained.
Manages the necessary and required resources for the environmental services department and provides recommendations for staffing levels, products and equipment. Completes all Human Resources responsibilities for interviewing, hiring, managing, staff development, corrective actions and / or staff engagement needs.
Manages all quality improvement initiatives regarding training, auditing, inspecting, rounding, and making recommendations as needed.
Collaborates with the EVS director to monitor/validate dashboard metrics to track operations/key performance improvement initiatives (KPIs).
Promotes a culture of safety, hand hygiene, patient experience, as well as employee engagement and retention.
Utilizes ES Optimizer software for writing job responsibilities and to manage resources.
Manages scheduling and oversees subcontractors and vendors.
Supervises and/or performs on-call emergency services when/as needed.
Composes general and technical reports.
Establishes self as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) within environmental services, regulatory compliance, and training.
Ensures Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are current and up-to-date with all units and departments.
Takes a customer-centered approach when addressing the needs of and interacting with patients, visitors, guests, team members and other health care workers.
In alignment with Organizational Initiatives, develops/maintains a culture where people want to come to work.
Employee Engagement – nurture a culture of healthy well-being with the EVS Team.
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
Required – Minimum 3 years in Environmental Services.
Required – 1 year in Supervisory level experience managing and scheduling staff.
Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Professional (CHESP) certification preferred.
Proficient in MS Office Suite and EVS software systems preferred.
Ability to clearly and effectively articulate and present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Exhibits excellent interpersonal and communication skills and provides a work environment that fosters positive energy, creativity, and teamwork among colleagues across all functional areas.
Proficient in OSHA, TJC, DOT, CDC Policy and Standard Work development/implementation preferred.
Pay Range $39.10 - $58.16 /hour
