Swinomish Indian Tribal Community
The Tribal Archivist works to preserve and promote the Swinomish Tribe’s permanent collection under direction of the Archive and Records Manager. This position is vital for ensuring that all archival materials are well-preserved, accurately catalogued, and easily accessible to the Swinomish Tribal Community. The Tribal Archivist will conduct thorough research, engage with the community, and implement best archival practices. The ideal candidate is a reliable individual dedicated to preserving the tribe’s history and cultural heritage for future generations.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associates Degree required; Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred, or equivalent experience in archival work (e.g., Archival Assistant or Library Technician)
Minimum of one year of relevant experience in an archive, special collections library, or cultural heritage institution; experience with Indigenous or Tribal archives is highly desirable
Familiarity with archival standards such as DACS or EAD are a plus
Certification from recognized archival organization is desirable (e.g., Certified Archivist, Digital Archives Specialist)
