Overview Talent Consultant @ AMD | Tech Recruiting, Strategic Sourcing
The Role We are looking for a highly motivated Semiconductor Laser Design and Modeling Engineer. Responsibilities include design, modeling, and simulations of I, III-V based high-speed and high-power semiconductor lasers. Technology leader to drive Laser module development from concept to production. Collaborate with internal and external design teams and technology development partners to understand future product needs and define a roadmap that includes process definition, Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Yield (DFY) guidelines. Drive technological development initiatives from concept to qualifications. Lead cross functional teams across geographies in designing and developing novel technologies and processes. Engage with worldwide ecosystem partners to gather data, analyze, and identify solutions. Executive level communication on technology development progress, and technical problem solving to address yield, reliability, testing, characterization, and process development challenges as needed.
The Person Should possess a proven track record of delivering innovative photonics and Laser module solutions from concept to production. Experience driving technology development in the semiconductor field. Leadership experience driving engineering teams in architecture definition, process definition and/or yield improvement. Excellent oral and written communication skills to share complex signals/recommendations with technology partners, colleagues, product architects and AMD management.
Key Responsibilities
Prior experience driving high power laser development, design, thermal management
Experience working with laser device vendors as well as pluggable module assembly vendors
Analyze experimental results to improve the design or model
Device experience in DFB lasers, III-V semiconductors
In-depth knowledge of laser module fabrication
Work as a team to propose new laser designs and provide support to design optimizations
Preferred Experience
Preferably having previous design experiences in one or more of the following areas: high-speed laser, electro-absorption modulated laser (EML), vertical cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL), and high-power laser
Laser testing and characterization experience is a plus
Fully understand theories of semiconductor laser, photodetectors, and other optoelectronic devices
Significant experience in semiconductor technology development role with laser design
Proven experience working with manufacturing partners such as suppliers, OSATs and foundry partners
Knowledge of basic semiconductor device fabrication process is a plus
Experience in a leadership role driving cross-functional teams
Academic Credentials
BS/MS/PhD in Material Science, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
