Accounting Manager

City of Lubbock . This position supervises and participates in general accounting operations for assigned areas, performing advanced accounting duties with primary responsibility for an accounting system or group of funds. Responsibilities include:
Oversee the Accounting Department in the absence of the Director of Fiscal Operations; Manage general accounting operations for assigned funds or functions, review transactions, and ensure compliance with standards; Assist in implementing and modifying electronic accounting systems; Supervise staff handling accounts payable, billing, collections, payroll, and grant accounting; Review work papers, journal entries, and financial reports; Prepare or review financial statements, including monthly reports, annual financial reports, and schedules for external auditors; Recommend solutions for accounting system issues and ensure compliance with standards; Estimate revenues and expenses, and develop management reports; Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field, with at least eight years of accounting experience; Minimum of three years supervisory experience in accounting; Graduate degree (MBA or MPA) and CPA highly preferred; Valid Texas Driver's License required. Knowledge and Skills:
Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and government accounting principles; Ability to coordinate and supervise accounting operations; Perform professional duties independently; Use judgment to adapt to standards and analyze data effectively. Physical Requirements:
Frequent standing and walking; Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds; Frequent reaching and pulling/pushing objects. Additional Information:
