Our ideal candidate will work out of our Fargo, North Dakota office, and we will also consider experienced remote talent ideally in the Midwest. Travel for this position will be around 35%. The Crop Insurance Underwriting Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the underwriting department. This includes managing all underwriting activities, optimizing workflow efficiency, managing and driving team performance, and leading training and development initiatives. The Underwriting Manager ensures that all deliverables and deadlines are consistently met. During peak periods, this role will also involve hands-on support with policy processing. The Crop Insurance Underwriting Manager will be responsible for: Ensuring regular consistent and transparent communication/updates to the National Underwriting Manager regarding department activities, challenges and success Managing the collections and RMA Ineligible Tracking System processes Implementing and maintaining a best-in-class customer service plan Fostering a strong team culture by developing team dynamics through regular check-ins, feedback, goal setting, feedback, and developing a cross-training program Identify training needs and facilitate skill development to enhance team performance Working with the National Underwriting Manager to develop written day-to-day underwriting procedures to ensure consistency Maintaining current industry and regulation knowledge and make recommendations due to changes Assisting the National Underwriting Manager with special projects and requests and assisting other departments with developing training and promotional materials. Visiting agents and assisting with agent training What you will bring to this position: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and a minimum of 8 years of crop insurance experience with a strong focus on underwriting crop insurance policies 3+ years of people management experience, including coaching, mentoring and developing teams Experience being a manager of managers/supervisors is a plus Proven leadership skills with the ability to create a culture of accountability and excellence and hold team members accountable Excellent organizational and time management skills, with a track record of meeting deadlines Ability to identify, address and resolve complex challenges and opportunities Exceptional communication, interpersonal and presentation skills Ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders The expected starting salary range for this position is between $80,000 and $120,000.
