Organization Summary
World Relief is a global Christian humanitarian organization whose mission is to boldly engage the world’s greatest crises in partnership with the church. This position is reliant upon funding and may be subject to modification or termination based on resource availability.
Position Summary
The Immigration Attorney will play a critical role in World Relief Western WA’s Immigration Legal Services (ILS) team. The primary role of the Immigration Attorney will be to provide representation to individuals in removal proceedings before the EOIR - Immigration Court and to individuals needing assistance filing applications with USCIS. The position is funded by the WAMASS program and is expected to be funded through June 2026. The position may be extended.
This is a limited-term position funded through a grant agreement until June 30th, 2026 and contingent upon funding extension.
Role & Responsibilities
Provide substantive legal screening to determine clients’ benefit eligibility
Explain immigration benefits and advise clients on best actions to take for their specific case
Assist clients with completing applications for immigration benefits
Provide representation to individuals in removal proceedings before EOIR - Immigration Court
Provide representation to individuals needing assistance filing applications with USCIS
Help clients advocate for themselves when they are interacting with government agencies
Perform factual and legal research for personal caseload and in support of other ILS team members
Communicate clearly with clients about all matters related to their immigration situation
Advocate zealously for clients
Maintain up-to-date records of client data and case progress in LawLogix and Excel
Ensure accurate and up-to-date case files with the most recent client documents and government notices
Respond promptly to client emails and phone calls and submit inquiries to DOS, USCIS, DHS and EOIR, as needed
Perform administrative tasks related to grant reporting (timekeeping, timesheets, training tracking)
Train other ILS team members on relevant legal topics and how to file immigration petitions/motions
Attend trainings to promote ongoing knowledge of immigration law
Maintain knowledge of significant policies, laws and trends in immigration law and share updates
Assist with promoting WRS Immigration Legal Services to immigrant populations and participate in community education events
Make referrals internally and externally as appropriate
Job Requirements
Mature and personal Christian faith
Committed to the mission, vision, and values of World Relief
Desire to serve and empower the Church to impact vulnerable communities
Able to affirm World Relief's Core Beliefs and related documents
Attorney in good standing with a state bar, preferably
Previous knowledge and understanding of immigration law and systems
Excellent written and oral communication skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office
Ability to work with people from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds
Ability to manage a varied and demanding caseload with strong time-management and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
A desire to serve immigrants and refugees in support of World Relief’s mission
Flexibility and resourcefulness; ability to assist with other duties as assigned
Up to 25% domestic travel required
Preferred Qualifications
Fluency in one or more languages other than English
Experience with Immigration Case Management System LawLogix
Experience practicing before USCIS and EOIR
Licensed under the Washington State Bar
$78,400 - $80,800 a year
