Role As an Applications Engineer, you will support customers and the ZEISS Sales team with pre- and post-sales application engineering activities such as product demonstrations, proof of concepts (POC), and sales support. You will assist with understanding and applying our hardware and software systems, delivering demonstrations, custom support, telephone, and on-site support as needed. This consultative role requires professional conduct and strong customer orientation.
Location & Travel Location: Cornelius, NC. Domestic travel up to 50% may be required.
What you'll do
Provide technical consultation and support to customers and Sales personnel, especially for advanced applications and systems.
Assist with ZEISS Calypso programming as needed.
Ensure accurate and timely flow of technical information.
Focus on advanced applications and new ZEISS technology.
Support projects using ZEISS systems, including responding to customer software/application inquiries and assisting other ZEISS departments as needed.
Provide applications expertise for project-related activities, including analyzing customer inspection requirements.
Perform Gage R&R studies.
Support IT-related issues, including Windows operating systems, networking, and database management.
Qualifications
Four-year degree in Engineering, Math, Physics, or another technical discipline preferred; equivalent industry experience is acceptable.
Ability to read engineering drawings for dimensional control requirements.
Ability to read and interpret GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
Strong inspection or metrology skills with experience in the manufacturing industry.
Proficiency with computer software and aptitude for computer-aided data analysis products.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to learn independently and address customer challenges.
Experience with ZEISS Calypso software and CMM programming is a plus.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to create concise technical reports.
Ability to reason and negotiate complex problems with customers.
