Operating Engineer - Critical Environments
Base pay range $79,600.00/yr - $115,500.00/yr Summary Mission Critical Operating Engineer will have a strong focus on monitoring, operating, maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing facility equipment on all systems. Responsibilities
Monitor central NOC and respond to alarms (or escalate when applicable) Maintain, monitor, and perform preventive maintenance and continuous operation of all building systems to maintain uptime including: fire/life safety, mechanical systems (HVAC, chillers, CRAC/CRAH, plumbing, controls), electrical including emergency backup systems (lighting, UPS, ATS, STS, PDU, generators, primary switchgear, power distribution, transformers), and hot water systems. Monitor operation of refrigeration, chilled water, air conditioning equipment; boilers, ventilation, water heaters; pumps, valves, piping, and filters. Record readings and adjust as necessary to ensure proper operation. Monitor building management systems and respond to alarms promptly. Analyze operation of various systems, determine causes of problems/malfunctions, and take corrective action as required Comply with departmental policy for the safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials. Maintain a clean and safe workplace. Learn and understand the data center site to manage incidents and events that put critical systems at risk Work order management, including CMMS, vendor management, and customer-facing tickets Understand and comply with emergency escalation procedures Perform additional job duties as required Minimum Experience
Preferred hands-on experience working in a data center/critical facility, including UPS Experience with systems, emergency generators, and switchgears High school diploma or GED 2+ years related work experience Working knowledge of Word and Excel Language Skills
Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures Ability to write routine reports and correspondence Other Skills and Abilities
Working knowledge or ability to develop proficient knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Access and other software packages Ability to interact professionally with tenants and contractors Physical Requirements
This position requires the following: Lifting a minimum of 50 lbs Climbing stairs and navigating rooftops to access equipment Using ladders up to 30 ft and working from heights Climbing a ladder with a 300-lb weight limit Seniority level
