Overview
Software Engineer (Flight and Ground Systems) – Onsite in Webster, TX. This position is responsible for the design, creation and maintenance of software for flight and ground systems. These systems include embedded Linux applications on custom circuit boards, ground software to control and monitor the space hardware, and automation scripts for testing and fault detection. Examples of flight hardware are MISSE (Multipurpose International Space Station Experiment), TAMU SPIRIT (Texas A&M/ Aerospace Multi-Use Space Platform Integration Research and Innovative Technology) and SSTEF (Space Science technology and Evaluation Facility) lunar test platform. Responsibilities
This position works closely with the Electrical team to help troubleshoot new board designs and write software to make them operational The position also works with the operations team to troubleshoot customer experiments and solve on-orbit issues Create software for spaceflight equipment, including designing and/or programming embedded systems, with limited supervision or oversight Assist MISSE customers and Primary Investigators (PI) to ensure that their active experiments/payloads meet ISS and MISSE requirements, can be integrated, and will function as planned on-orbit This includes working closely with our integration engineer(s) and designers Design electronics and software to interface with customer active experiments/payloads and assist with their integration and testing. Qualifications
U.S. Citizenship or Green Card required 5+ years of experience in embedded systems, electronics, or avionics development Proficiency in C++, Python, and common programming languages Experience developing user interfaces and network communication protocols Strong background with Linux environments and embedded systems programming Current understanding of electrical/embedded system design and selection of spaceflight-rated components Familiarity with analog instrumentation and signal interfacing Ability to work hands-on with electrical hardware and test equipment Proven track record of working independently and within cross-functional teams Strong time management, organizational, and communication skills Preferred Qualifications
Experience with NASA verification processes and requirements documentation Knowledge of spaceflight effects on electronics, such as radiation and thermal extremes Prior experience in the space industry (preferred, but not required) Moseley Technical Services, Inc. is an AA/EEO/Veterans/Disabled Employer.
