CommonSpirit Health Position Summary To oversee the development, implementation and maintenance of all aspects of care for patients with a ventricular assist device in collaboration with the Advanced Heart Failure and Circulatory Device Program Medical Director; to coordinate and manage the patient care of this high-risk patient population through the continuum to optimize the patient's clinical, functional, and psychosocial status; and designs and implements VAD Clinic services and performance improvement program. The incumbent designs and implements this new MGH program's services and activities. The incumbent acts as a clinical liaison and communication link to the physicians, office personnel, nursing staff, allied health care professionals and patients and their families. The incumbent will be required to support the clinical management team with 24/7 availability for patients. This position may be involved in research clinical trials, and professional continuing medical educational programs. The role of this position will evolve over time to meet the needs of the patients and of the program. The incumbent is accountable for maintaining quality standards for the responsive service, professional documentation and patient follow-up; and maintain current and accurate polices, procedures and practices; all in a manner that is consistent with the Mission and Philosophy of Mercy General. Minimum Qualifications Five (5) years of professional clinical experience in critical care. One (1) year of experience caring for Ventricular Assist Device patients. Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent combination of education and experience. Current California RN license. Current BLS & ACLS certifications through the American Heart Association. Preferred Qualifications One (1) year of experience as a VAD Coordinator preferred Nestled in the heart of East Sacramento, Dignity Health Mercy General Hospital is a 313 bed acute care facility that provides a wide range of services with special advocacy for the poor and underserved.
