Infection Preventionist - Osborn role at HonorHealth. HonorHealth is a nonprofit healthcare system serving the greater Phoenix area. This role acts as a resource and consultant to clinical, support and management services and medical staff regarding organizational infection prevention and control. Applies epidemiologic principles and statistical methods to identify target populations, analyze trends and risk factors, and design and evaluate the infection prevention program and approaches. Coordinates a comprehensive system-wide infection prevention and control program and activities. Responsibilities

Provides direction for comprehensive infection prevention and control surveillance activities including routine patient-focused and microbiological surveillance, outbreak investigation, environment and construction surveillance, and communicable disease reporting. Interprets surveillance data and presents information to the Infection Prevention and Control Committee and hospital/medical staff departments. Uses CDC/NHSN criteria to evaluate infection status and submits data to CDC/NHSN database according to CMS requirements. Leads and participates in network-wide and local infection prevention improvement programs with focus on CLABSI, CAUTI, C.difficile and MRSA, and Surgical Site Infection reductions. Guides implementation of best practices from APIC, CDC, SHEA and other agencies. Develops and maintains a comprehensive infection prevention and control plan and related policies and procedures to meet laws and regulatory standards. Serves as a resource for policy development with infection prevention implications including construction and environment of care. Plans and participates in infection-control education programs for patients, clinical and non-clinical staff, physicians, volunteers, students and the community; tailors programs to learning needs and staff development. Advises on appropriate patient care supplies, sterilization, disinfection and cleaning supplies, and safe needle products using evidence-based knowledge and epidemiology principles. Serves as a resource on infection prevention-related aspects of construction, environment of care, disasters and bioterrorism/epidemic detection and response. Acts as liaison with county public health, state licensing and Quality Improvement Organizations on infection prevention issues. Consults with administration, legal/risk management, physicians, and staff on complex situations involving patients, staff and environment. Responds to organization-wide emerging infectious disease situations (e.g., Ebola, Pandemic Influenza) and develops policies to meet state certification requirements as appropriate. Maintains compliance with national standards and regulatory bodies such as CDC, OSHA, and the FDA. Provides post-exposure investigation for internal and external healthcare workers in consultation with Occupational Health and outside agencies. Education

Bachelor\'s Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or health-related field - Required Bachelor\'s Degree in Nursing - Preferred Experience

1 year in Infection Control in an acute care setting - Preferred 5 years experience in Infection Prevention and Control in acute care setting - Preferred 5 years experience in Infection Prevention in outpatient treatment - Preferred Licenses and Certifications
