Prepare, distribute, and maintain laboratory materials, reagents, and equipment for teaching labs. Manage laboratory lockers, student check-outs/check-ins, and maintain accurate inventory and documentation. Assist in coordinating and supporting undergraduate and graduate teaching assistants. Calibrate, assemble, and perform minor maintenance or troubleshooting on laboratory equipment such as pH meters, centrifuges, balances, and spectrophotometers. Maintain chemical hygiene and enforce safety procedures, including handling and disposal of hazardous waste. Monitor and restock chemical and equipment inventories; assist with receiving and storing laboratory materials. Support the overall organization, cleanliness, and operational readiness of laboratory spaces. Position Information
Full-time (1.0 time-based), benefits eligible, permanent/probationary position. Non-exempt under FLSA and eligible for overtime. Standard SDSU work hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., may vary based on operational needs. Location: SDSU Imperial Valley in Brawley, CA, on-campus at SDSU in Brawley, CA (approximately 120 miles east of the San Diego main campus). Education And Experience
Equivalent to three years of experience providing instructional support services for a related unit or discipline, or in producing materials or supplies or repairing equipment in a discipline related to the specialty area; or equivalent substitutions as described. Key Qualifications
Experience assigned to a laboratory or instructional area, handling materials, supplies, and equipment, with inventory management and substitution decisions in emergencies. Experience operating and assisting faculty and students with interpreting results from scientific equipment. Experience maintaining extensive bacteriologic collections; building or constructing models as teaching aids. Experience with scheduling and planning equipment utilization; collecting specimens to match course needs. Compensation And Benefits
Salary is based on experience, education, and qualifications within the department’s budget and equity guidelines. CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,595 - $6,694/month; hiring salary not expected to exceed $4,780/month. Generous benefits package including 15 paid holidays, vacation and sick leave.
