Senior Scientist - Windreich Department of AI & Human Health

The Senior Scientist provides scientific and technical leadership in the management, design and execution of a clinical research program. With a broad range of skills and experience, this individual is a critical component of the Principle Investigator's laboratory, demonstrating a capacity for collaboration and innovation with consistently high productivity. The Davis lab is a computational and statistical genomics lab focused on the genetic architecture of a wide range of phenotypes from neuropsychiatric, to metabolic, to gene expression. This position is shared with the Seaver Autism Center under the direction of Dr. Joseph Buxbaum. We are seeking a highly motivated individual with deep knowledge of human genetics, principles of computational and statistical genomics, and a passion for discovery. Projects will utilize large highly dimensional data sets including genomic SNP and copy number variation data, DNA and RNA sequencing, and biobank phenotypes. We use polygenic approaches to “big data” to identify genes involved in human health and disease, to discover genetic correlations between traits, and to identify novel biomarkers. Qualified candidates will have a strong publication record and will enjoy working independently in a fast-paced, intellectually exciting environment as an integral part of a highly motivated team of colleagues to fulfill the mission of the Seaver Center and the Davis Lab. Excellent communication, organizational skills, and friendly demeanor are essential. Responsibilities

Designs and conducts complex clinical research studies requiring the determination and evaluation of alternative methods, diagnosis and treatment. Developing independent research projects Leading manuscript development Assisting with grant writing Co-mentoring trainees Assisting with administrative and regulatory tasks in the lab Analyzes and interprets clinical data from research studies. Explores subject area and defines scope and selection of problems for investigation through conceptually related studies. Develops hypotheses to be tested and methodology for evaluating results. Communicates research results to the scientific community via published papers. Coordinates seminars and discussions for dissemination of knowledge and results of research in order to develop new diagnosis or treatment. Develops new proposals for research and obtain support for new and/or continuing research activities. Makes decisions and recommendations that have a major impact on extensive scientific research activities. May supervise graduate/ medical students and trainees. Performs other related duties. Qualifications

Ph.D in sciences or related field Minimum five years of experience with scientific investigation. Must have demonstrated outstanding achievement in a field of research Must have contributed to a number of peer-reviewed publications, inventions or the like, at least some of which have had a major impact on advancing the field or discipline.
