About the Role: Working under minimal supervision, the EH&S Manager will oversee The Huntington’s environmental and occupational health and safety program. The EH&S Manager helps ensure a safe workplace by (i) monitoring workplace health & safety requirements, (ii) developing, implementing and managing related programming, training, policies and procedures, and (iii) enforcing compliance at local, state and federal levels. This position serves to maintain the “Safety Culture” of The Huntington. The EH&S Manager will frequently interact with all levels of staff and leadership and will report to the Legal Counsel. Essential Duties

The EH&S Manager will manage and supervise workplace health and safety at The Huntington, serve as the main point of contact for all environmental and occupational health & safety considerations, and be the key liaison with applicable governmental agencies. Conduct inspections and workplace ergonomic evaluations, maintain institutional Safety Data System (SDS), submit and track permits, monitor operational activities to identify hazards/EH&S violations, and assist with corrective action. Oversee hazardous materials, hazardous wastes, above and underground storage tanks, and air quality management district permitting. Conduct research and advise on various environmental health topics, including mold, asbestos, vector control, radiation safety and industrial wastes. Assess, maintain compliance with, and communicate to departments Cal/OSHA requirements and general safety standards and requirements. Update and manage Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP), track distribution and ensure staff training. Review and update current policies and procedures, and create additional policies and procedures as required, in response to health & safety best practices and manage all related training. Manage and coordinate The Huntington’s response to all public health measures, including declared emergencies, and advise on and lead all communications with applicable governmental agencies. Act as the chemical safety officer for The Huntington. Create and maintain environmental and safety compliance calendar. Conduct job hazard analysis, conduct employee incident investigations, and recommend preventative/corrective actions in consultation with worker’s compensation carrier. Collaborate closely with all departments, managers, employees, worker’s compensation carrier and regulatory agencies on EH&S issues. Work closely with Human Resources, the Legal Counsel, the Risk Manager, and other managers to ensure safety and institutional programs align and comply with departmental goals, regulations and best practices. Develop, maintain, conduct and coordinate safety training and record keeping, and submit health and safety compliance documents to relevant organizations. Define EH&S goals and objectives that align with strategic planning initiatives and communicate updates with Senior Staff of The Huntington. Candidate Requirements And Experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field. At least 5-7 years of experience in an EH&S role. Strong knowledge of environmental and occupational health & safety regulations and best practices, including industrial hygiene. Demonstrated experience delivering in-person safety and compliance trainings. Demonstrated technical and planning skills to successfully manage a safety program of an organization with over 500 employees. Ability to perform the duties of a chemical safety officer. Strong written and oral communication skills. Interpersonal skills to interact with all employees, senior leadership, and visitors of The Huntington. Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize and handle multiple tasks to meet all deadlines, including urgent deadlines. Ability to understand an issue and take initiative to collaborate and develop actions and measures to address it. Ability to work proactively, independently and efficiently. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (including Word and Excel), the Internet, and other commonly used applications (e.g., DocuSign, PowerPoint, and Adobe). Professional judgment and ability to handle sensitive and confidential communications. Preferred

Bilingual preferred (Spanish/English) Certified Safety Professional Working Conditions

Ability to sit in an office setting for long periods of time with periodic walks around the campus to meet with departments, conduct trainings, perform investigations, evaluate and assess health and safety exposures, and review the implementation of adopted policies and procedures in response to safety measures.
